Tragedy in Soweto: Building Collapse Claims Three Lives, Including a Child

Soweto – A devastating building collapse in Doornkop, Soweto, has claimed the lives of three people, including a one-year-old child and two women. The incident occurred this morning, prompting a swift response from Johannesburg Emergency Services.

According to emergency personnel, six people were inside the double-storey building when it suddenly collapsed. Upon arrival at the scene, rescue workers were confronted with the grim task of locating and extricating those trapped beneath the rubble.

Three individuals were successfully rescued from the wreckage and immediately transported to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital for urgent medical attention. The rescued individuals include two adult females and a child, all of whom sustained injuries of varying degrees.

Despite the heroic efforts of the rescue teams, the bodies of the three deceased – the one-year-old child and two women – were recovered from the scene.

Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the building collapse. Authorities are examining the structural integrity of the building and gathering evidence to ascertain whether any negligence or building code violations contributed to the tragic event.
