Tragedy in Rotterdam Village: Teenager Found Dead, Father Discovered Hanged
Limpopo police are investigating the tragic deaths of a 15-year-old girl and her father, whose bodies were discovered in Rotterdam Village following a search that began when they were reported missing on 22 December. The grim discoveries have left the local community in shock as authorities work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the events.
The sequence of events began when Xilaveko Suke, 15, and her father, Themba Peter Baloyi, were reported missing after allegedly leaving their home together to travel to Giyani. Concerned for their welfare, police issued a public appeal to enlist the community's assistance in tracing their whereabouts.
Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba detailed the initial discovery: “On Christmas Day at about 08:50, police received a report regarding the discovery of a body at the father’s parental home in Rotterdam Village.”
Upon arriving at the scene, officers were led by the deceased’s paternal grandmother to a one-room house where they made the harrowing discovery. “Police established that the body of the missing teenager was in a partial state of decomposition and had a visible stab wound,” Ledwaba confirmed.
The discovery of Xilaveko's body prompted an immediate search for her missing father, Themba Peter Baloyi. Police intensified their efforts to locate him, hoping to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the teenager's death.
Tragically, the search for Baloyi came to a devastating end on Friday when his body was found by police. He was discovered hanging from a tree in Rotterdam Village.
Ledwaba also added that on Christmas Day, police were also alerted to an incident in which Baloyi’s home was found burned.
The discovery of Baloyi's body marked a somber turn in the investigation.
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the fire are ongoing. Authorities are meticulously examining the evidence and following all leads to determine the full sequence of events that led to this tragic outcome.
