Gayton McKenzie's Son Takes Over SuperSport United Status: Minister's ‘very rich baby mama’ helped establish Siwelele FC

Bloemfontein – In a surprising turn of events, Calvyn Le’John Stanley, the son of Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie, has been unveiled as the individual behind the acquisition of SuperSport United’s Betway Premiership status. The 29-year-old from Bloemfontein secured the status through Siwelele Football Club (Pty) Ltd, a company recently registered.

Adding a layer of intrigue to this acquisition, City Press can reveal that Fedile “Lerato” Kholoanyane, McKenzie’s alleged former partner, was briefly a co-director of Siwelele FC before swiftly resigning. Kholoanyane's brief tenure raises questions about her involvement in the deal and the motivations behind her departure.

According to records from the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC), Siwelele FC was incorporated on 7 February. The company's profile shows Kholoanyane resigned on 26 March, leaving Stanley as the sole director. Siwelele FC's registered office is listed at an address in the affluent Waterfall suburb in Midrand, north of Johannesburg, while Stanley's residential address is listed in a Bloemfontein suburb. Before her resignation, Kholoanyane's address was the same as the company's Waterfall address.

McKenzie addressed Kholoanyane's resignation, stating that she merely assisted Stanley in registering the company to secure the Siwelele name. "Lerato registered the company, and then she resigned so that my son could take over," McKenzie explained. "She’s a very wealthy woman. She has her own business. She owns hotels and other things," he added. He further stated, "She resigned because she doesn’t want to be involved in football. She was just helping him secure the Siwelele name. I’m not going to talk about Lerato. What can’t you understand?".

The revelation of Kholoanyane's involvement comes after McKenzie hinted at the revival of Bloemfontein Celtic in a radio interview in February, the same month Siwelele FC was registered. He stated that individuals close to him were in the process of buying Bloemfontein Celtic for the 2025/26 season. "There are people very close to me who are busy buying Bloemfontein Celtic," he said at the time. Few would have guessed that he was referring to his family and former partner.

When approached for comment on the nature of his relationship with Kholoanyane, McKenzie declined to comment. "You see, now you’re going deep. You’re now coming with your things. Go and ask Lerato. I don’t speak about my private life, and I am not about to start now. Lerato is her own person, a very rich woman," he stated during an interview at the Springboks Store in Sandton City.

Kholoanyane is known as Lerato Kholoanyane in business and political circles, although she uses the name Fedile Norah Kholoanyane on official legal documents. The 41-year-old previously served as spokesperson for the Patriotic Alliance (PA), the political party led by McKenzie, and is considered a close business and political ally. Her Facebook page features green branding, photographs of her in PA regalia, and a profile picture of McKenzie. "My blood is green," reads her "About" section on the page. City Press was unable to reach Kholoanyane for comment.

Further investigation reveals that Kholoanyane is listed as a director of almost 40 companies, most of which have been deregistered in recent years. These companies include Queens Diamond Mine, Invictus Gold, Aluvi Mining, Dovetail Investments 950, Fezicube Events, Big Sky Trading 461, and Rivonia on Deck, a popular hangout spot in Sandton. McKenzie was previously a co-director of Big Sky Trading 461 with Kholoanyane but resigned last August, a month after his appointment as a minister.

Fezicube Events has been identified as a service provider to the Central Karoo District Municipality at some point. McKenzie served as the municipality’s mayor from 2022 to 2023.

The acquisition of SuperSport United’s status by McKenzie’s son, coupled with the revelation of Kholoanyane's brief directorship of Siwelele FC, raises questions about the involvement of individuals close to the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture in the business of football.
