The family of 35-year-old Bulelani Kenneth Mdekazi is making an agonizing plea for answers six months after he was violently abducted from his Hange Village home in Tsomo, Eastern Cape.
Mdekazi was forcibly taken on the night of March 23, around 23:00, when a group of armed intruders kicked down the door of his family homestead. At the time, he was at home with his visually impaired uncle, who recalled hearing the abductors shout commands ordering Mdekazi to comply and leave the house. He was forced into an awaiting vehicle and has not been seen or heard from since.
A Family Left in Agony
Adding to the mystery, the abductors have never reached out to demand a ransom. Mdekazi, who is unemployed, suffers from monocular vision due to a severe eye injury sustained in a 2020 car accident.
Speaking on the emotional toll on the family, his sister Babalwa Mdekazi expressed their daily anguish and frustration over the slow pace of the investigation.
"We are so worried. We are unable to cope," Babalwa shared. "Each day, we think about him and his well-being. We are wondering if he is safe… We refuse to give up on trying to find him. We are appealing to the police to double their efforts and investigate the case properly."
Police Urge Public Assistance
Eastern Cape police spokesperson Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa confirmed that initial investigative leads have produced no positive results, but assured the public that the case remains active and ongoing.
