November grant dates have changed: Sassa explains when payments arrive and what beneficiaries must do

0

Sassa beneficiaries will receive their November 2026 grants earlier than usual, with older persons’ grants paid from 30 October, disability grants on 2 November and children’s grants on 3 November.

The South African Social Security Agency said the revised dates are a once-off arrangement linked to the local government elections on 4 November. They do not mark a permanent change to the monthly payment schedule.
Sassa said the standard grant payment dates from December 2026 through March 2027 remain unchanged. Dates for the 2027/28 financial year will be announced through the agency’s official communication channels.

“These dates will continue to apply until a new payment schedule for the 2027/28 financial year is announced through the agency’s official communication platforms,” Sassa stated.

The agency urged beneficiaries to check its official channels for accurate information and be cautious of unverified messages or speculation about changes to payment dates.

People who have received a notice asking them to attend a grant review are being urged not to ignore it. Sassa said beneficiaries must respond and provide the information and supporting documents requested within the stated time.
“Sassa is making an emphatic call to beneficiaries who receive notifications requesting them to present themselves for a grant review [and] not to ignore such notices.

“Reviews are an essential part of the agency’s efforts to safeguard the integrity of the social assistance system, ensure that grants are paid to qualifying individuals, and prevent irregular or fraudulent payments. Beneficiaries have a responsibility to respond to review requests and provide the required information and supporting documentation within the specified period.”

Beneficiaries who do not receive their grant by 5 November are advised to contact their nearest Sassa office. The agency says a payment may have been suspended if a beneficiary failed to complete a required review.
Recipients can also check their grant status using Sassa’s self-service WhatsApp line. They should send “Hi” to 082-601-0111 to access information about whether a grant is under review and other digital services, including eLife Certification and new grant applications.

“This offers beneficiaries a convenient way to obtain information and access services without necessarily having to visit a Sassa office,” the agency said.

“Sassa encourages beneficiaries to make use of this service regularly, particularly when they are uncertain about the status of their grants or whether further action is required from them.”

Sassa also reminded recipients to update the agency promptly if their personal or financial circumstances change. This includes changes to marital status, income or cellphone number.

“Beneficiaries who change their cellphone numbers without updating their details with Sassa risk missing important notifications and may consequently fail to respond to requests requiring their attention.

“Such situations can easily be avoided by ensuring that the information held on Sassa’s database remains accurate and current.”

The agency has urged beneficiaries to keep their contact details up to date so they receive notices about reviews or other actions required to maintain their grant.
