"While we were standing at the scene, someone came and told us that they were sitting in the park yesterday evening and the security went around the park towards the Modderdam Road and threatened him," the resident stated. "The security told him that he could not sleep there. I'm not saying they did it, but the paramedic said that he was viciously murdered – kicked and beaten with bricks…"
The resident further lamented the tragic loss, saying, "He just lived on the street and scraped for his little piece of bread but didn't bother anyone… But to die like that? I would not even wish that on my worst enemy.”
According to a source speaking to the Daily Voice, the man was "lelik vermoor" (horribly murdered). Another community member at the scene described the victim's face as "skeef" (crooked) and "dik gegooi" (swollen) with a brick.
