GOGO Masebetsi Mofokeng (70) was laid to rest on Sunday, 27 April, in Makwane Village, Qwaqwa, Free State.
She was allegedly raped, killed, and burnt beyond recognition.
The heartbreaking incident has left the community in mourning.

On Saturday, 5 April, gogo received a distressing phone call from a relative claiming to be under attack by her husband.
At the time, gogo was at a neighbour's home, mourning the tragic loss of five family members who had died in a vehicle accident involving a burning truck.
Shortly after this call, she was brutally attacked.
It's alleged gogo returned to her home, attempting to rescue the relative from suspected gender-based violence.
Tragically, she disappeared for several days before her burnt body was discovered.

According to her younger sister Mamotiki Mofokeng (61), concerned villagers reported gogo missing.
Police allowed Mamotiki to enter the house through a window.
"When we entered the house, we were met by a disturbing smell. We found her decomposed body lying on the floor, burnt beyond recognition. A pool of blood next to her body showed she was violently murdered before being set alight. All her clothes were burnt. We don’t know what could have caused this cruel act. We leave everything in God’s hands," said Mamotiki.

Gogo lived alone in a mud house in Tebang Village.
The family revealed that this was not the first attack on her house.
Recently, a young man broke in and stole her Sassa grant.

Fortunately, gogo identified him, and the case was dealt with in court.
Her grieving family is now calling on law enforcement to accelerate their investigation and bring perpetrators of this horrific crime to justice.
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring confirmed that a murder case is currently under investigation at the Makwane Police Station.
"No arrests have been made thus far. We cannot dispute that other charges will be added when suspects have finally been apprehended," he said.
