THIS actor’s journey in one of Mzansi’s popular soapies is said to be coming to a painful end.
Generations: The Legacy actor Duma Mnqobi (30), who plays Fana, has been shown the door. Insiders told the news crew that the star’s contract has not been renewed.
“Unfortunately, Duma is being let go, his contract has not been extended because the show’s writers feel there’s nothing they can do with his character. It’s really sad because he loves his job and gets on well with his co-stars, but this is showbiz. There are no guarantees,” said one insider.
Another insider said: “They’re planning on killing his character and this will work well with the current storyline that sees Fana plots to bring down his dad, Jack Mabaso. No one saw this coming. We were also shocked when we found out that Duma was leaving because it had not been communicated to us. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
A third source said: “The show opened doors for him and he won’t be forgotten just because Generations decided to get rid of him. It’s not nice waking up only to be told you no longer have a job. Unfortunately, that’s the reality of the entertainment industry. You never know who’s next in line,” said a third source.
Head of public relations at Generations: The Legacy, Gaaratwe Mokhethi, said: “Fana will be exiting at the end of his contract. But he’ll be on screen until end of November.”
Duma was not available for comment. His phone rang unanswered this week.
