The disappearance of Jerry Boshoga, a Pretoria businessman, remains a chilling mystery. This documentary delves into the details surrounding his abduction in November 2024 and the alleged corruption within the South African Police Service (SAPS) that may have hindered the investigation.

Jerry Boshoga, a farmer, tender entrepreneur, and owner of a VIP protection services company, vanished after a meeting at a KFC in Wierdapark, Centurion. A ransom demand followed, but the family couldn't meet it. Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala, an alleged underworld figure and self-proclaimed friend of Boshoga, claimed Boshoga was involved in drug trade, a claim that sought to muddy the waters.

National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola, however, received information that his deputy, Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya, was allegedly working with Matlala. Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo led a raid on Matlala's home, but the case docket was later removed by Lieutenant-General Sibiya, halting the investigation. KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi testified that the docket was moved to "suffocate" the investigation.

The documentary explores the "Safe House" theory, suggesting Boshoga was being held in a secure location, and examines the implications of Boshoga's diabetes, which requires strict management and medication. Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala testified before a Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee, pleading with Jerry Boshoga’s mother not to believe the police. A witness known as "Witness C" testified about a white sheet found in the ransom videos, linking the location to the suspects.

The suspension of Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya came as a necessary step, but for many, it was too little, too late. The narrative provided by Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala to the authorities and the public has been one of injured innocence.

This video investigates the chaotic infighting and alleged corruption within the police leadership, questioning whether it directly contributed to the failure to rescue Jerry Boshoga.
