A 52-year-old man was shot dead in broad daylight after an unknown gunman stepped out of a white Volkswagen Polo, walked straight up to him, and fired two bullets into his head in Roosendal, Delft.

### ‘Delft is a red zone, so you can expect anything here’
Despite the ongoing violence plaguing the broader Delft area, one resident told reporters that Roosendal usually experiences less bloodshed than neighbouring hotspots.
“We do have shootings now and then in Roosendal, but it's not as bad as in other parts of Delft where people are being murdered,” the resident shared.
“It is quite a quiet neighbourhood. It would be easy to assume, but you never know.”
However, a local first responder and crime fighter, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the wider area as a dangerous crime zone and urged community members not to let fear stop them from reporting killers.
“I have been up and down in Roosendal, especially on Monday, as I am assisting with the special votes and it has been reasonably quiet,” the community member said.
“Delft is a red zone, so you can expect anything here. We do have shootings every day in various parts of Delft because the community is big; it is difficult to keep your hand on just one specific area, but we do have crime groups and residents who keep us up to date.
“We are dealing with the taxi shootings and then there is also gangsterism, which is very bad, so it could be one of the two. Then there are also hijackings and robberies; however, we do have our authorities patrolling the area.”
The crime fighter appealed to witnesses to come forward anonymously so detectives can track down those responsible.
“We want to urge the residents to help us fight crime and not be quiet; if you see something, then say something,” they added.
“It is the only way to bring these criminals to book; however I understand that there is a fear amongst residents for their safety, but SAPS do have an anonymous line where you do not have to identify yourself.”
