Reality Star Mpumelelo Mseleku Targeted in Frightening House Raid by Fake Police
Security company boss and reality TV personality Mpumelelo Mseleku – son of well-known businessman and polygamist Musa Mseleku – has opened a criminal case after a terrifying late-night home invasion by eight men posing as police officers.
The incident occurred at Mseleku’s Ballito apartment on the night of Tuesday, 21 October 2025, when the armed suspects forced their way in while he was at home with his heavily pregnant partner, Amanda Biyela.
According to Mseleku’s lawyer, Thabani Mpungose of Thabani Mpungose Attorneys, the intruders arrived around 11pm, using what appeared to be a fraudulent search warrant to justify their entry. None of the men was in a police uniform.
“They broke the door to gain access into the apartment and produced a fraudulent search warrant,” said Mpungose. “We verified the warrant’s inauthenticity with the authorities and the district commissioner, who showed us a real one.”
The men claimed to be from the crime intelligence department, accusing Mseleku of drug dealing, money laundering, fraud, dealing in illicit goods, and possession of an unlicensed firearm. However, according to Mpungose, none of these allegations held any merit.
“They did not make any arrests but said they were conducting a search based on the warrant,” he explained. “He had R30 000 in the house, which was stolen during the raid. There was a bullet missing from his licensed firearm, which they also took. They damaged the door of the apartment, and it has not yet been repaired.”
The incident has left Mseleku and his partner traumatised. What appeared to be a police operation quickly turned into a criminal heist, executed with alarming precision.
Raid carried out with a fake warrant
The group reportedly gained access to the gated complex without a security access code, raising further suspicions about how they managed to breach the building’s security systems.
Mpungose said the search warrant presented by the men had an unofficial police stamp and a forged signature, both of which were later confirmed to be fake by the district commissioner.
Following the ordeal, Mseleku’s legal team immediately opened a criminal case at the Durban Central Police Station, including charges of theft, fraud, damage to property, defamation, and misrepresentation.
“We found that two of the men were indeed real police officers, and the other guys were private security,” Mpungose revealed. “The district commissioner also confirmed that the warrant is fake.”
The revelation that some of the men involved were actual police officers has deepened the mystery around the incident, prompting questions about how legitimate officers became entangled in what appears to be an organised criminal operation.
Police confirm investigation
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed that authorities are investigating the matter.
“Police in Durban Central have opened a case of house robbery following an incident in which a couple was allegedly robbed of their belongings at their residence on Douglas Grove in Ballito on Tuesday, October 21, 2025,” said Netshiunda.
“Reports indicate that the couple was at their home when at least eight people came to their house and reportedly posed as police officers. The suspects allegedly stole an undisclosed amount of money.”
Inside the ordeal
Sources close to the family said Mseleku and Biyela were in bed when they heard loud banging at the door, followed by the sound of it being forced open. The armed men stormed in, identifying themselves as police and waving the questionable warrant.
The couple were allegedly interrogated for hours, during which the men searched the apartment and took valuables, including cash and a firearm bullet. No arrests were made during the incident, and the couple were left shaken but unharmed.
Legal action and growing pressure
The Mseleku family, known for their appearances on the popular reality series Uthando Nes’thembu, is now pressing for accountability. Mseleku’s legal team is pushing for disciplinary measures against the identified officers and a broader investigation into how fake warrants are being used to facilitate robberies.
Mpungose confirmed that they are also seeking compensation for damages to property and stolen items, as well as assurances that those responsible — including any complicit officers — will face criminal charges.
The case adds to growing public concern over incidents of criminals impersonating police officers, which have been on the rise in recent years.
For now, Mseleku and his partner are focusing on recovery and securing their home, while the police investigation continues.
“We are determined to see justice served,” Mpungose added. “This was not only a violation of his rights but also an attack on the trust citizens place in law enforcement.
