Actress Mona Monyane has taken to her Instagram page to publicly expose her estranged husband, Khulu Skenjana, alleging ongoing torment and abuse.
The former Muvhango star posted a series of offensive private messages, claiming that Khulu has been harassing her for some time. The messages reveal a deep sense of pain and anger.
Some of the messages read: “Justice will prevail. You will never have peace, love or prosperity in your life, for ripping my son away from me."
Another message stated: “I am coming for my Bazooka. May the Almighty TATA NZAMBI, SONINI NANINI meet out justice and retribution for your wickedness.” The intensity of these messages suggests a highly volatile and emotional situation.
Accompanying one of the screenshots shared on Instagram, Mona wrote a lengthy caption, providing context to the shared messages and her reasons for making the matter public.
“The amount of trauma I have had to experience at the hands of someone who once claimed to love me has changed the molecular structure of my brain, my heart and my being," she wrote.
She continued: “You only know about me what I choose to share. I now choose to share more. This is part of my healing journey — allowing my voice to speak, allowing myself to no longer protect my abuser."
Mona also addressed those who might judge her decision to speak out, saying: “I want every woman who is not compassionate to this journey to kindly leave me alone.”
Mona was previously married to Khulu, and the couple have not officially divorced. According to Mona, Khulu is allegedly refusing to sign the divorce papers, prolonging the legal and emotional ties between them.
The pair announced their separation in 2020, after four years of marriage, leaving fans and followers surprised and saddened.
Khulu offered a subtle response to Mona's public accusations through his Instagram stories.
“You don’t have to always tell your side of the story. Time will,” he wrote in one of the posts, suggesting he believes the truth will eventually come to light without his direct intervention.
Mona Monyane recently opened up about the loss and abuse she suffered in her marriage in a Showmax episode of the talk show UnTied.
In 2017, Mona and Khulu welcomed their first child. However, their journey was marked by tragedy.
In 2018, when their firstborn was seven months old, Mona became pregnant again, but their second child died shortly after birth. This devastating loss added to the already strained relationship.
At the time, the family had moved into Mona’s family home due to financial struggles, placing further pressure on their marriage.
Speaking to Relebogile Mabotja on UnTied, Mona described the experience as painful but ultimately necessary for her survival.
“That was the most profoundly painful thing God has ever done to me, but it was necessary. I was going to die in that marriage," she said.
She further explained the extent of her personal crisis, saying: “I had lost myself to the point where I couldn’t recognise who I was when I looked in the mirror. My dreams were gone. I didn’t want to act anymore; I thought I had no talent.” This statement highlights the severe emotional toll the marriage had taken on her.
