THE troubled son of veteran music producer Sello “Chicco” Twala, Longwe, was nabbed once again following one of his alleged alleged dumb actions.

This was after he allegedly stole a chocolate bar worth R10 at a petrol station in Diepkloof, Soweto, midweek.

The incident occurred while the 35-year-old was out on bail for two incidents of theft.

Longwe also stands accused of stealing a friend’s phone earlier this year. In another incident, he allegedly helped himself to a shaving razor from a groceries store without paying in October last year.

According to a police officer close to the case, Longwe was allegedly caught helping himself to the chocolate bar by one of the station’s petrol attendants, who called the police.

“The petrol attendant on duty spotted him inside the shop and observed his movements. He then saw him taking a chocolate bar and put it in his pocket. He followed him to see if he was going to pay for it. As he was trying to leave the shop, that’s when the petrol attendant caught him and called police,” he said.

When the SunTeam contacted Chicco, he said he had thrown in the towel on his son.

Said the producer: “I wasn’t even aware he was out of jail. But a few relatives had mentioned it in passing that he was seen in Naturena, south of Joburg, where they say he stole clothes from his aunt’s house.”

Police spokesperson Kay Makhubele confirmed the case and said investigations were ongoing.

This is not the first time that LOngwe has been arrested for theft. In January this year, veteran musician and producer Chicco Twala did not mince his words while handing over his son, Longwe, to the Diepkloof police for theft.

“I always said it that I so wish it was you who killed Senzo Meyiwa so that you can rot in jail. I will never stand this sh*t. My name is destroyed. Everyone when they see Chicco Twala, they see a criminal, a drug lord all this shit. I worked hard for my name…” the outraged father is heard saying.

“He appeared in court and got R2 000 bail, but I opposed it and brought more charges against him because, to be honest with you, after the Senzo Meyiwa thing, I really got tired.

“I don’t want my name being associated with an old man like him,” the father told News24.

Twala stressed that his son’s drug addiction and criminal activities were creating problems for him and that he was better off in jail hence he had opposed his son getting bail.

Many South Africans believe Longwe directly took part in killing Senzo Meyiwa. He has been accused countless times of being the one who pulled the trigger – an allegation he strongly disputes.

Hours after former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain Senzo Meyiwa was killed, his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo and her sister Zandile allegedly approached a nearby sangoma and asked for ritual cleansing.

Days later, the sisters’ mother, Gladness, allegedly also drove to the same sangoma’s house accompanied by Zandile and her then boyfriend Longwe Twala (music producer, Chicco Twala’s son), who is said to have told the traditional healer that he “couldn’t sleep at night because a dead person was strangling him”.

It is widely believed that the dead person he was referring to was reportedly Senzo Meyiwa’s ghost.

The sangoma, in her affidavit dated January 20, 2015, claims she was reluctant to perform any rituals on Twala without his parents’ consent, but Gladness convinced her that “nobody wants to help her (Gladness) except me”.

The sangoma, in her affidavit, further revealed that:

Kelly Khumalo returned with a goat in January 2015 for another cleansing ceremony because things weren’t going well with her; The singer’s two children were also subjected to ritual cleansing;

She told Longwe, as she was cleansing him, that the shadow of a dead person was following him, and he responded by saying, “the dead person is even strangling him and he doesn’t sleep at night”.
