Popular Kwaito and television legend Bonginkosi Dlamini – AKA Zola – is accused of dodging his parental responsibilities by his ex partner
In 2015, Zola 7 announced a massive comeback, revealing that he would be hosting Mzansi Magic’s hit reality TV show, Utatakho. The show reunited children with their estranged fathers, and if necessary, even had paternity tests done to prove the children’s cases.
Who would have thought that the TV star would find himself facing the same drama in his own life?
His ex-girlfriend Garnett Maseko is in this month’s DRUM magazine with some pretty damning accusations. The mother of two claims that Zola refuses to take responsibility for two children that she alleges are his. This particular saga has been rumbling on for four years and appears to be no closer to resolution.
Garnett, who has had to drag her ex to court before in order to get him to pay the children’s maintenance and school fees, has grown frustrated with Zola’s lack of action.
She said, “I’m tired of this. Every year Bonginkosi tells me, ‘I know what you did.’ He claims the children aren’t his but I’ve never denied him a paternity test. I’ve told him to do it but he’s failed to do it.”
She claims that the issue of paternity has come up numerous times, but Bonginkosi refuses to take the paternity test in order to find if the children are his
An emotional Garnett added, “It’s affecting me emotionally. I want him to do a paternity test. I’m tired of being accused of something that’s not true.”
According to the 32-year-old mother, Zola spends limited time with the children – most recently during the December holidays – but still refuses to acknowledge them as his own.
She concluded, “I know he’s the father of my kids. He’s been paying maintenance for these kids for years but still won’t accept them.”
When called for comment, Zola declined to respond to the allegations, instead he took to Instagram to slam both Drum magazine and his ex:
