Three men were shot dead inside a car in Khayelitsha after a fellow passenger pulled out a gun and opened fire, according to police.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said the shooting happened on Joe Gqabi Street in Town Two, Makhaza, at about 12:30pm on Wednesday.
What police said happened
Van Wyk said detectives from the provincial serious and violent crime unit are investigating and are following leads to locate the gunman.
Preliminary information indicates that the three deceased men were inside a Toyota vehicle when another passenger randomly started shooting at fellow passengers. The suspect then fled.
Bodies found at multiple locations
SAPS members responded and found:
- One adult man with multiple gunshots inside a grey Toyota at the scene.
- About 500 metres away, a second adult man with multiple gunshot wounds.
- Another adult man was later found in Tabang Street.
Police said the men have not yet been identified and the motive is still unknown.
