Explosive Affidavits Claim Julius Malema Delivered R80,000 Cash And Luxury Whisky To Feared Taxi King 'Mswazi' In Midnight Visits

0

A series of explosive affidavits have surfaced, alleging that Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema was deeply entangled in a clandestine relationship with the late, feared taxi boss Jotham “Mswazi” Msibi. The allegations, which include claims of midnight cash deliveries in a black Louis Vuitton bag, have sent a "wall of shock" through the country's political landscape and have exposed a deeply disturbing "web of deceit" that threatens to rewrite the narrative of the red berets’ commander-in-chief.

The drama, which has been described as a "national tragedy" for the transparency of our democracy, centers on a R1 million defamation lawsuit launched by Malema against Patriotic Alliance (PA) deputy president Kenny Kunene. However, Kunene has hit back with sworn testimony from witnesses who claim to have seen the EFF leader acting as a "deferential" subordinate to the man identified as the head of the "Big 5" taxi cartel and the criminal network known as "The Firm."

A "Web of Deceit" and the "Louis Vuitton Bagman"

The nightmare for the EFF leadership began when Tshepo Molekoa, who described himself as Msibi’s "right-hand man" and personal chef, filed a devastating affidavit at the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg. Molekoa claims he witnessed Malema visiting Msibi at his highly secure Uvivi Lodge farm compound in the Dinokeng Game Reserve on at least seven different occasions starting from April 2023.

"The dynamic between the two men was distinct and observable," Molekoa stated in his affidavit. "[Msibi] was unequivocally the dominant, senior figure in the room. He spoke with authority, dispensed strategic advice, and directed the flow of the conversation. [Malema], conversely, presented as attentive, respectful, and at times deferential, listening carefully to the counsel provided by [Msibi]."

Most damagingly, Molekoa detailed a specific transaction where he allegedly saw Malema hand over a substantial financial tribute. "I witnessed Julius Malema giving the now-late taxi boss R80,000 in cash and an expensive bottle of Macallan whisky, which the EFF leader delivered in a black Louis Vuitton bag. The inclusion of the Macallan whisky was a clear, calculated gesture of respect and tribute from [Malema], demonstrating his intimate knowledge of [Msibi’s] specific personal preferences and his willingness to offer luxury goods alongside financial payments. This transaction was an unambiguous delivery of a substantial cash tribute to a feared figure."

A "Wall of Concern" and the "Midnight Consultations"

The testimony of the chef is bolstered by a second individual, identified only as "Witness A," who has requested anonymity out of a legitimate fear for his life. Witness A describes a "clandestine operational culture" at the fortified Uvivi Lodge, where the timing of Malema’s arrivals suggested something far more sinister than standard political consultation.

"What struck me immediately about [Malema’s] visits was their highly suspicious and secretive nature," Witness A stated under oath. "[Malema] almost exclusively arrived at the fortified compound after midnight, typically in the very early hours of the morning, such as 02:00. In the operational culture of Uvivi Lodge, the timing of a visit dictated its purpose. Daytime visits were generally reserved for standard, administrative taxi industry business. However, the post-midnight hours were strictly reserved for clandestine operations, high-level underworld consultations, and the arrangement or maintenance of protection services."

Witness A also claimed to have seen the black Louis Vuitton bag in action. "I witnessed Malema open a black Louis Vuitton bag and move bundles of cash from it onto a table in the taxi boss’s home. I did not remain in the room to count the exact monetary value of the cash, but the visual volume of the banknotes was substantial. This financial tribute was entirely consistent with the operational model of [Msibi’s] enterprise, where protection, influence, and patronage were secured exclusively through large cash payments."

A "Crisis of Integrity" and the "Deathbed Deliveries"

Perhaps the most chilling aspect of the testimony is the allegation that Malema continued these payments even as Msibi’s health failed before his death in January 2024. Witness A described a visit in late 2023 or early January 2024, during a period when the taxi boss was severely ill.

"Even as the taxi boss’s health deteriorated, [Malema] returned to the compound to deliver another bag," the witness claimed. "This demonstrated to me that [Malema] was deeply entangled in a relationship of ongoing financial obligation or dependency, maintaining his tribute payments even as the recipient lay dying."

The PA's Kenny Kunene, who Malema is suing for comments made during an interview with podcast host MacG, remains adamant that he will not apologise. Kunene has even invited law enforcement agencies to track Malema’s phone records, which he insists will show the EFF leader was frequently in the vicinity of the Hammanskraal compound at the hours described by the witnesses.

A "Human Tragedy" and the "Shadow of the Cartel"

The allegations have cast a dark shadow over Malema’s public image as a champion of the poor. Kunene argued in his court papers that Malema’s willingness to associate with individuals implicated in severe criminality is a matter of public record, citing photographs of Malema in a "warm embrace" with Matipandile Sotheni, who is facing murder charges related to the assassination of a witness before the Madlanga Commission.

"In the presence of hundreds of mourners, [Malema] explicitly and warmly referred to Mr Msibi as a close friend," Kunene noted, referring to the eulogy Malema delivered at the taxi boss’s funeral. "Crucially, [Malema] openly admitted during his speech that Mr Msibi would frequently telephone him late at night, and [he] spoke fondly of these midnight communications. Photographs from this funeral depict [Malema] actively participating in the burial and holding a shovel at the graveside, further cementing his intimate connection to the deceased."

For the residents of South Africa, the "Mswazi" connection is a "national tragedy" that raises questions about who truly pulls the strings of political power. The Big 5 taxi cartel has long been associated with violence and intimidation, and the idea that a national political leader could be "beholden" to its late leader is a bitter pill to swallow for those hoping for clean governance.

The "Public’s Verdict" and the Fear of Retribution

The stakes in this legal battle are life and death. Witness A’s refusal to reveal his identity highlights the lethal reality of the taxi underworld. "My fear for my life and physical safety is not speculative, paranoid, or exaggerated. It is rooted in a highly volatile and demonstrably lethal reality," the witness stated. "The testimony I provide directly links [Malema], a powerful national political leader, to the late Mr Jotham Mswazi Msibi… identified as the leader of the Big Five taxi cartel and the head of an organised criminal network known as The Firm."

The witness further noted that Malema is the "commander-in-chief of a political movement whose supporters are known for their fierce, unwavering, and often aggressive loyalty." The fear is that the public disclosure of these "clandestine midnight cash deliveries" will lead to "immediate, severe, and potentially fatal retribution."

As the Gauteng High Court prepares to hear this explosive case, the nation waits for Malema’s formal response. While he has taken issue with Kunene calling him a "boy" and comparing him to Michael Jackson, it is the "Louis Vuitton bag" allegations that carry the most weight. Celeb Gossip News will continue to monitor this "web of deceit" and provide updates as the legal battle unfolds. We are committed to uncovering the truth behind the midnight visits to the "King of the Taxi Underworld" and the real cost of political patronage in South Africa.
