Johannesburg – The Johannesburg magistrate’s court heard yesterday that Victor Majola, the man accused of orchestrating the murder of popular entertainer Warrick Stock, known as DJ Warra's, allegedly identified the victim moments before he was fatally shot.
Investigating officer Captain Abe Montwedi testified during Majola's bail proceedings, detailing the events leading up to the shooting on December 16, 2025.
According to Montwedi, Majola, 44, was sitting with two other men outside Zambezi Flats in the Johannesburg CBD when Stock arrived. A witness, who reportedly observed the murder unfold, overheard Majola speaking in isiZulu, allegedly saying, “Nangu lomuntu,” which translates to “here is the person,” as Stock was exiting the building.
Moments later, one of the men accompanying Majola allegedly shot Stock multiple times.
Montwedi testified, "The accused and the two men waited while the deceased was on the phone. When he finished and attempted to go back into the flats, one of the men with dreadlocks shot him."
The officer further stated that CCTV footage obtained from a nearby butcher allegedly shows Majola sitting with the shooter before the attack. The footage also purportedly shows the group leaving the scene together on foot after the shooting.
Majola faces charges of premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder, both classified as schedule 6 offences under South African law. He has remained in custody since his arrest on December 22, 2025.
In an affidavit read into the record, Majola denied any involvement in the killing. He insisted that he was a victim of mistaken identity and argued that there was no forensic, cellphone, or eyewitness evidence directly linking him to the crime. Majola claimed he was asleep at home at the time of his arrest and fully co-operated with the police.
The state is opposing bail for Majola, arguing that he does not have a fixed address. The prosecution further stated that releasing Majola could jeopardise ongoing investigations, as key suspects are still at large.
The bail hearing is set to continue today.
