Popular South African DJ and actress Thulisile "Thuli P" Phongolo has been forced to cancel all her remaining performances for the year due to illness.

The 30-year-old Soweto native, known for her electrifying sets and her role as Namhla Diale in SABC1's Generation: The Legacy, will be unable to fulfil her scheduled engagements from 26 to 31 December 2024.

While her management team has refrained from publicly disclosing the specifics of her illness, the seriousness of her condition is evident in the decision to cancel all shows for the remainder of the year. This news comes as a significant disappointment to fans who had eagerly anticipated her performances during this peak season for DJs.

Confirming the cancellations, Thuli P's manager, Mkhulu Zulu, stated: “We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to those who have already bought tickets or made arrangements to attend the shows. Please, know that this decision was not taken lightly, and we understand the disappointment it may bring.”

He further elaborated on the team's efforts to address the situation and ensure future performances: “We are working to rectify these issues and reschedule the event to ensure a successful and enjoyable experience for all. We sincerely appreciate the support and enthusiasm of our audience."

The news of Thuli P's illness arrives just weeks after she released her debut mixtape, In the Mix with Thuli P, a project that showcased her versatility and talent behind the decks. The mixtape release followed her earlier promise of an upcoming EP, further highlighting her dedication to her music career.

Thuli P's journey into the world of deejaying began in 2017, and she quickly rose to prominence, becoming one of Mzansi's most sought-after DJs. Her talent and charisma have captivated audiences, and her performances are known for their high energy and infectious enthusiasm.

Last year, she took her career to another level by teaming up with Slenda Da Dancing DJ to form the female duo, 2Faced. This collaboration saw them blending amapiano and gqom music, showcasing their innovative approach to music and their ability to seamlessly blend different genres.

The cancellation of her December shows represents a significant setback for both Thuli P and her fans. The festive season is typically a busy and lucrative period for DJs, and her absence from the line-up will undoubtedly be felt. However, the priority now is undoubtedly Thuli P's health and recovery.
