South African musician Daniel “Danny K” Koppel’s wife, Lisa Koppel, has died, his family has confirmed.
The news was confirmed by the musician’s mother, Pam Koppel, on Monday morning. The family has not disclosed Lisa’s cause of death or the circumstances surrounding it, and has indicated that it will not issue a public statement at this stage.
“His wife’s name is Lisa. Yes, she passed away,” Pam said.
Lisa, 41, was the daughter of prominent celebrity divorce lawyer Billy Gundelfinger. Although she began her career as a model, she later pursued law, earning an LLB from Unisa before being admitted as an advocate of the High Court in 2010.
At the time of her death, she was listed on LinkedIn as an associate at Billy Gundelfinger Attorneys.
Lisa and Danny K married in 2012 in Somerset West in the Western Cape. The couple had two sons, Jayden and Kyle.
The couple largely kept their family life away from the spotlight, despite Danny K’s long career in South African entertainment. Their marriage followed Lisa’s transition from modelling into the legal profession, where she worked in the same field as her father.
Danny K rose to prominence as a musician and became known for songs including Pretty Brown Eyes and Made to Love You. Over the years, he has remained a familiar name in South African music and entertainment.
