Centurion – The home of Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya was raided on Thursday by a police task team, reportedly in connection with a case of defeating the ends of justice.
Sources close to Sibiya stated that he was in Sandton consulting with lawyers when his wife informed him of a police helicopter and a large contingent of officers from KwaZulu-Natal at their Centurion smallholding. The officers reportedly secured the perimeter of the property.
The investigation stems from accusations made by KZN Provincial Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi during testimony at the Madlanga Commission. Mkhwanazi alleged that Sibiya had obstructed justice by ordering the transfer of dockets from a task team to his office.
As of Thursday, sources indicated that an arrest warrant for Sibiya had not been confirmed.
The raid raises questions about potential internal conflicts within the police force and the ongoing efforts to address allegations of corruption and misconduct. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
