DURBANVILLE – Police in Durbanville are currently investigating the murder of a man who was fatally shot inside his vehicle on Friday evening. The incident occurred on Village Lane, in the Cobble Walk area, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, spokesperson for the Durbanville police, confirmed the incident and stated that the perpetrators remain at large. "Durbanville police responded to a complaint on Friday, 09 May 2025. Upon their arrival at Village Lane, Cobble Walk they found the body of a man who sustained gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. The unknown suspects who fled the scene are yet to be arrested," Swartbooi said.
The scene on Village Lane was cordoned off by police as they meticulously gathered evidence. The deceased's vehicle, the focal point of the investigation, was parked in front of a complex.

While police are pursuing all leads, a source close to the investigation has indicated that the shooting may have stemmed from a domestic dispute involving the deceased, his wife, and another individual. This suggests the possibility of a gunman still at large, posing a potential threat.
The Durbanville Community Policing Forum (CPF) declined to comment on the ongoing investigation. When contacted by the Daily Voice, the CPF stated that they do not receive information on active cases and directed all inquiries to the Durbanville SAPS.
