TSHWANE – Veteran actor Samson Khumalo is in mourning following the death of his wife, the esteemed actress Meme Ditshego, who was recently laid to rest in Tshwane. The South African entertainment industry is reeling from the loss of one of its most beloved performers.

Khumalo, known for his role as Bra Boiki in the popular soap opera Skeem Saam, and also for his portrayal of Percy Mlambo in the sitcom The Coconuts, alongside Meme as his on-screen wife, is heartbroken by the loss.

The 56-year-old actor, a familiar face in South African entertainment for over two decades, has captivated audiences with his performances in both comedic and dramatic roles. However, off-screen, his world has been plunged into sorrow.

Recently, Khumalo shared his grief on Instagram, opening up about the profound loss he has experienced.

“On this day, a month ago, my beloved wife, my soulmate left us and joined the celestial legion,” he wrote.

He affectionately referred to her as "Miss Meme" and described her as the light of his life.

“The world feels colder without her. These early days of grief are bitter and dark. But thank you for your prayers, comforting words and kindness. This shows she was truly loved.”

The heartfelt message has resonated deeply with fans, who fondly remember the undeniable chemistry the couple shared, both in their personal lives and through their iconic on-screen portrayals.

Meme Ditshego, originally from Lethabile in Brits, North West, died on June 25 after a short illness, at the age of 60. Her passing marks the end of an era, but her legacy and love story with Samson Khumalo will undoubtedly endure.

Ditshego's passing was confirmed by her talent agency, Eye Media Artists. The cause of death has not yet been revealed.

Ditshego was renowned for her iconic roles in popular local television shows, including SABC 2’s Ga Re Dumele, where she played the memorable character of Josephine Ratau.

Her extensive career also included roles in The Coconuts, Muvhango, 7de Laan, and, most recently, Cobrizi.

In a touching statement, Eye Media Artists described her as a "pioneer of performance" and a "true veteran of our screen and stage."
