Dineo Ranaka broke the internet on Tuesday, 21 December, when a video of her confronting a man, who is rumoured to be her boyfriend, started trending.
In the video, Dineo can be heard telling Sechaba Thole to keep her name out of his mouth.
She told him that she was bigger than him, and that there was a big difference between them.
“The problem is that you think you know me and you think you know too much. I used you to heal. You use people to boost your ego. Grow up. Listen to yourself when you say Sechaba Thole and then hear yourself when you say Dineo Ranaka. Does your soul not move? There’s a big difference,” she said.
In her rant Dineo also revealed that she had divorced her husband, Klaas Pesha, of less than a year. The two got married in secret, and Dineo announced the news on social media in January.
“Keep my name out of your mouth. Getting excited that I have a little crush on you? I was going through a divorce. I divorced him in less than a year, and you come into my life and think I’m waiting for you?” she asked.
The video didn’t sit well with some men on social media, who have labelled Dineo as abusive. Most said if the roles were reversed and Sechaba did that to her, South Africa would have been up in arms.
Twitter user, The Chosen One wrote: “Why I’m pressed about the Dineo video is that if a gent did what she did, you would be telling us that ‘men have this idea of speaking anyhow to a woman in order to belittle and mentally abuse her’. ‘Who knows what else happened behind closed doors?’”
The Real Mbuso said people were covering up for Dineo, which was wrong.
“It’s sad that men easily get cancelled over allegations without proof. But when Dineo is exposed as an emotional abuser of someone with mental health issues, you all want to find out what happened first. Come on guys, let’s decide if we are against abuse or not,” he said.
Then Mxolisi Sibaya commented: “The amount of women justifying the verbal abuse by Dineo should indicate to you the root of the widespread GBV in the country. South African women mistaken being smart with being disrespectful. To each his own if you’re all going to defend this vile behaviour. Men, it’s time to follow suit.”
Uuuuuhhhm okay Dineo Ranaka, honestly…. I just wanna live in your head for two minutes pic.twitter.com/VX0d4Dnm4i
