Percy Tau is reportedly on the verge of leaving Al Ahly after agreeing to a $500,000 (±R9.4 million) settlement to terminate his contract.

According to Cairo24, the South African forward, 30, rejected the club's attempt to sell him and instead requested to have his contract terminated, seeking the full remaining value of $600,000 (±R11.3 million).

However, after negotiations, a lower payout of $500,000 (±R9.4 million) was reportedly agreed upon, allowing Tau to depart.

Tau joined Al Ahly in August 2021 from Brighton & Hove Albion, but injuries and inconsistent form limited his impact at the club. The former Mamelodi Sundowns man has been in a protracted saga with the Egyptian club, though it appears to be nearing its end.

The settlement will allow Tau to pursue new opportunities, with his next move likely to be a key point in his career. He has been linked with both Zamalek and Wydad Athletic Club so far.
