A 23-year-old woman was shot and killed in an apparent robbery in Tembisa, Gauteng, on Monday morning.
The woman was reportedly on her way to work when she was attacked. Police said she was shot and that her belongings were taken during the incident.
The killing has raised fresh concern in the Ekurhuleni area because it is reportedly the 12th case in which a woman’s body has been found in the region. However, police said preliminary investigations had not established any link between Monday’s incident and the recent cases involving bodies found in the area.
The woman has been identified, but police said her next of kin had not yet been formally informed. Her name is therefore being withheld until the family notification process has been completed.
