The attempted murder case against Bellarmine Mugabe, son of the late Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, has been postponed to next week in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for a formal bail application.
Bellarmine Mugabe appeared briefly on Tuesday alongside his co-accused, Thobias Mugabe Montonge.
The pair face charges of:
- Attempted murder
- Defeating the ends of justice
- Possession of a firearm
The charges relate to the shooting of a 23-year-old employee, believed to be a security guard, at the Mugabe family’s luxury Hyde Park property in Johannesburg last week.
The firearm charge comes despite police still not having recovered the gun allegedly used in the shooting. Authorities have not yet clarified who is believed to have fired the shots, and it remains unclear who shot the employee.
The victim reportedly sustained gunshot wounds and is in a critical condition, while police investigations continue.
