Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal
Johannesburg/Durban – A Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms and heavy downpours has been issued for parts of South Africa, including Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, for Monday. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) warns that the weather pattern could bring localised flooding, strong winds, and large amounts of hail to the affected areas.
The areas under threat include Gauteng, the Highveld and escarpment of Mpumalanga, south-western parts of Limpopo, eastern parts of the Free State and North-west, as well as the north-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
This warning follows reports of severe thunderstorms, hail, and lightning in parts of Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga on Sunday, indicating the potential for continued severe weather. Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions.
High Fire Danger Warning in Western Cape and Northern Cape
Meanwhile, an extremely high fire danger warning has been issued for the south-western parts of the Northern Cape and the western parts of the Western Cape for Monday. Residents and visitors in these areas are urged to exercise extreme caution and avoid activities that could spark a fire.
