South Africa Weather Update: Showers, Thundershowers, and Extreme Heat
Here's your daily weather forecast across South Africa, along with UVB forecasts and some interesting provincial facts:
Gauteng:
- Temperature: Cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers. Expect cold conditions in some southern areas.
- UVB Sunburn Index: High. Take precautions!
Mpumalanga:
- Temperature: Morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool to cold with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers.
Limpopo:
- Temperature: Morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the extreme south-west.
North West:
- Temperature: Cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers
Free State:
- Temperature: Morning fog patches in the extreme east, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated over the southern parts where it will be partly cloudy.
Northern Cape:
- Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm, with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated over the western interior.
- Wind: Light to moderate westerly to north-westerly along the coast.
Western Cape:
- Temperature: Fine and hot to very hot, but extremely hot over parts of the West Coast District. Partly cloudy along the south coast.
- Wind: Moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly along the coast, but strong along the south-west and south coasts.
- UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme. Exercise extreme caution!
Eastern Cape:
- Western Half: Partly cloudy and cool to warm, but fine over the interior. Moderate north-easterly wind along the coast.
- Eastern Half: Partly cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers. Morning drizzle possible over the Wild coast. Moderate north-easterly wind along the coast
KwaZulu-Natal:
- Temperature: Morning fog patches in places over the western interior, cloudy and cold to cool with isolated showers and rain.
- Wind: Light to moderate southerly to south-westerly along the coast until late morning, then light southeasterly, becoming light to moderate easterly to north-easterly in the south from late afternoon, spreading northwards by the evening.
- UVB Sunburn Index: Low.
Weather Alerts:
- Impact-Based Warnings:
- Yellow Level 2 Warning: Severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours, damaging winds, large amounts of small hail, and lightning are expected over North West, Gauteng, the Highveld of Mpumalanga, north-eastern parts of the Northern Cape, and most of the Free State (except in the south). This could lead to localized damage to infrastructure, settlements, property, vehicles, agriculture, and livestock, as well as localized flooding and minor vehicle accidents.
- Yellow Level 1 Warning: Damaging winds are expected between Cape Columbine and Cape Agulhas, posing a risk to navigation and small vessels.
- Fire Danger Warnings:
- Heat wave conditions with persistently high temperatures are expected over north-western parts of the Western Cape from Friday, 07/11/2025 until Sunday, 09/11/2025.
- Advisories:
- Extremely hot and uncomfortable conditions are expected over Matzikama and Bergrivier Local Municipalities in the Western Cape on Friday (07/11/2025).
