Check Your Deodorant: Mitchum Deodorant Recalled in SA Due to Skin Irritation Risk

0

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has issued a recall notice for specific batches of Mitchum deodorant sold in South Africa. This action follows an announcement by Mitchum UK to withdraw certain products internationally due to a change in the manufacturing process.

Why the Recall Was Issued

The manufacturer has informed the NCC that a recent adjustment to a raw material has affected the acidity levels of the final product. This change has led to reports of a skin reaction called contact dermatitis, particularly among consumers with sensitive or compromised skin.

Since April, a total of 124,176 units from the affected batches were distributed within the country, prompting the urgent recall.

Affected Products and Batches

Consumers should immediately check their Mitchum deodorants for the following products and corresponding batch numbers:

  • Mitchum Woman Roll-On 100ml 48H Shower Fresh: Batch numbers S25331A and S25422A
  • Mitchum Woman Roll-On 100ml 48H Powder Fresh: Batch numbers S25331A and S25416
  • Mitchum Men Roll-On 100ml 48H Sport: Batch numbers S25328A and S25416A
  • Mitchum Men Roll-On 100ml 48H Mountain Air: Batch number S25415B

If you own any of these products, you should discontinue use immediately and return them to the store where you purchased them for a full refund.

If you've experienced any negative effects from using the product, the NCC advises you to contact Revlon South Africa for further guidance.
