What could have been a painful day for Letshego Zulu and her daughter Lethu turned into something positive and inspiring
Lethu’s school celebrated Father’s Day this week and invited dads to spend the morning with their children.
Sadly, her father Gugu Zulu could not be there for her as he passed away in 2016 while attempting to summit Mount Kilimanjaro.
Letshego says that the school ensured that children who did not have fathers in their lives were not let out of the special day.
“The school didn’t exclude the kids without living dads from celebrating. The theme was Super Heroes and the kids had to come dressed as such. Lethu chose a Barbie Superhero outfit,” she said.
The qualified biokineticist says that she was happy to support her daughter on the day.
“I know Lethu’s dad is smiling in heaven. This is our reality and has been for three years now. I’ll proudly wear my Super Mom tee because I think I am one.”
Letshego will talk about the pain of losing a loved one in her upcoming book, I Choose to Live – Life after Losing Gugu
She says that the book went to print this week and she can’t wait to share her story.
“Writing this chapter of my life’s journey has been an emotional yet cathartic process. A 15,5yr love story came to an end. I share parts of it and the story of picking up the pieces. To everyone who played a role in this journey, no matter how small or how big, I love you and I thank you,” she wrote on Instagram.
Letshego’s book is due for release on July 9.
