DJ Sox is mourning the death of his 10-year-old son, Busa, who died on Sunday after battling severe pneumonia and spending two months in intensive care on life support.

The Durban DJ and music producer shared the news in an emotional tribute on Wednesday, describing his son as brave and thanking the medical staff who cared for him during his illness.

“My boy, you fought a good fight. You were so brave, and I am so proud of you,” Sox wrote.

Busa had spent two months in hospital while doctors and nurses worked to save his life. Despite their efforts, the boy died on Sunday, leaving his parents devastated.

Sox spoke about the pain of losing a child at such a young age and the reality of having to continue without his son.

“No parent can ever be ready for the pain of losing a child so young. I miss you more than words can explain, and it hurts knowing I won’t get to hold you again,” he wrote.

The DJ said he was struggling with the thought of never holding his son again. His tribute reflected on the time the family spent hoping and praying that Busa would recover.

Sox said his son had shown courage throughout the illness and that he was proud of the way Busa had fought.

The family was preparing to lay Busa to rest on Thursday. Sox asked God for strength as he and his wife faced the funeral and the days that would follow.

Despite his grief, Sox said his faith remained a source of comfort. He wrote that he trusted God’s will even though he could not understand why his son had died.

“Even through this heartbreak, I trust God and His will, though I may not understand it,” he said.

Sox said he believed Busa was resting safely in God’s arms and described his son as one of the angels watching over the family.

The tribute also included thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for Busa during his two months in intensive care.

“To all the doctors who did their best to save Busa’s life, and the nurses who cared for him throughout these two months, thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” Sox wrote.

“We deeply appreciate your dedication, compassion and every effort you made to save our boy.”

The family also received support from friends and members of South Africa’s entertainment industry during Busa’s illness and after his death.

Sox thanked those who had offered prayers, messages and kindness to him and his wife while their son was in hospital.

The DJ said that support had helped the family through the difficult period, which lasted for two months as Busa received intensive medical care.

The news prompted condolences from several South African entertainers and music figures. DJ Tira, Black Coffee, DBN Gogo, Dlala Thukzin and other members of the entertainment community expressed their sympathy to the family.

Messages shared with Sox and his family included prayers, condolences and wishes for strength as they prepared for the funeral.

Sox ended his tribute by promising that Busa would remain part of his life and would never be forgotten.

“I love you, my boy. I’m going to miss you every day, and I will carry you in my heart for the rest of my life,” he wrote.

The family has not publicly shared further details about Busa’s illness beyond saying that he had severe pneumonia and spent two months in intensive care on life support.

Busa’s death follows a prolonged period of treatment in hospital, during which his parents hoped he would recover. His father said the medical team continued working to save him until his death.

Sox described his son as brave and said he was proud of the fight Busa put up during his illness.

The funeral marks the next stage of the family’s grieving process. Sox said he was asking for strength to face the service and the difficult days after his son’s burial.

The DJ’s tribute focused on Busa’s courage, the care he received in hospital and the support shown by friends and loved ones.

He said the pain of losing a child was impossible to prepare for, but his faith helped him accept that Busa was now at rest.

Sox and his wife are mourning privately while receiving support from family, friends and colleagues in the entertainment industry.

Busa will be remembered by his family as a brave 10-year-old who fought through a serious illness and remained deeply loved by his parents.

Sox said he would carry his son in his heart for the rest of his life.
