The glittering premiere of Lebo M’s latest cinematic venture, _Lebo M: Legacy in Motion_, took an unexpected and explosive turn on Thursday night, leaving the A-list audience stunned and setting social media ablaze. What was meant to be a celebration of the iconic composer’s global legacy quickly devolved into a public feud, with Lebo M launching a blistering attack on veteran sportscaster Robert Marawa, labelling him a “high-profile deadbeat” father.
The drama unfolded at a VIP screening at Nu Metro in Hyde Park, where guests including Tbo Touch, Herman Mashaba, and Lillian Dube were treated to a preview of Morake’s upcoming projects. However, it was a clip from his docu-reality series, _Last Woman Standing_, that truly stole the show. In the segment, Lebo M, who recently married for the fifth time, delved into his past relationships, making the sensational claim that he had financially supported the child of his former fiancée, actress Zoe Mthiyane, and Marawa.
“I didn’t get into a relationship to break hearts, but most women I’ve dated have kids from their previous relationships, and most of their baby daddies are deadbeats,” Morake declared in the clip. He then took direct aim at Marawa, alleging that during his time with Mthiyane in Australia for _The Lion King_ production, he had to step in. “I can tell you that woman had nothing in her account because she used all her money supporting her child which she shares with Robert,” he claimed. “I can tell you now Robert was aware I was taking care of his kid but not a single cent from him as contribution.”
Marawa, when contacted for comment, did not mince his words, firing back with a furious retort. “I wasn’t aware that he’s the mother to my kid! He loves attention, that one, and he mustn’t try me. I’m not using my son or myself to promote his stupid reality shows!” The sportscaster’s sharp response has only added fuel to the fire, creating a public he-said-she-said that has divided fans and celebrities alike.
This is not the first time the complex triangle between Lebo M, Mthiyane, and Marawa has made headlines. Mthiyane and Marawa’s relationship ended in 2012, and while she once labelled him an “absent father” in 2015, she has more recently praised him as a “protector.” In stark contrast, she described her relationship with Lebo M, which ended in a bitter public split and a R6 million defamation suit in 2016, as a “downward spiral.”
Lebo M, for his part, seems to be leaning into the controversy, proudly stating in the same episode, “Wherever my sperm goes, my cheque follows.” The composer’s long and often tumultuous love life has been well-documented, with four previous marriages and multiple engagements. His latest marriage to actress Nomoya Refiloe Dube has already been thrust into the spotlight by this latest drama. As the dust settles, one thing is clear: this is one celebrity feud that is far from over.
