Gagasi FM's Felix Hlophe Takes Temporary Break Amid Abuse Allegations
Durban – Gagasi FM presenter Felix Hlophe will be taking a temporary break from his duties at the station, following allegations of abuse that have surfaced on social media. The station made the announcement in a press release issued today, Monday, 29 December 2025.
Hlophe, 49, who hosts "The Uprising" on Gagasi FM, will be given time off air for the coming week. According to Gagasi FM, this decision will allow them to assess the situation being reported on social media and in various publications. It also aims to provide Felix with the necessary space to address personal matters that require his attention.
The radio station stated: "This will allow the station to further assess the situation being reported on social media and in various publications, and to give Felix the space to attend to personal matters requiring his attention."
Following this initial period, Gagasi FM confirmed that Hlophe will proceed on scheduled leave for a further two weeks.
"Gagasi FM will not speculate or comment further while the matter is being addressed through the appropriate internal processes," the station's statement continued.
Felix is expected to return to the airwaves on 19 January 2026, after the conclusion of this period. During his absence, Heazy will stand in as the host of "The Uprising," while the crossover show will be hosted by Selbyonce and Linda ‘Mr Magic’ Sibiya.
In response to the allegations, Felix Hlophe has released his own statement, vehemently denying any physical violence. He stated that the claims circulating online were made by an associate of his wife and confirmed that he is seeking legal advice to address the situation.
"This statement serves to formally acknowledge statements that have been made about me on social media by an associate of my wife. I'm aware of these statements and have referred the matter to my legal representatives for advice," said Hlophe.
The allegations are linked to an incident that reportedly occurred on 24 December 2025, following the public circulation of information relating to Hlophe’s personal life.
According to Felix, his wife temporarily left their home with their children after accepting an invitation from a friend. "Following the public circulation of news relating to my personal life, my wife accepted an invitation from a friend to take some time away with our children," he added.
