Emtee Apologises to Fans After On-Stage Dozing Incident
South African rapper Emtee, whose real name is Mthembeni Ndevu, has issued an apology to his fans after videos surfaced online showing him seemingly dozing off during a recent performance. The videos, which quickly went viral, sparked concern and disappointment among fans who had attended the show.
In a statement released on social media on Thursday, December 18th, Emtee explained that his actions were a result of extreme fatigue caused by a demanding schedule of back-to-back performances across the country.
The statement, issued by eMtee Records, read: "We, eMtee Records, extend our sincerest apologies to fans who attended eMtee’s performance in Pretoria on December 16, Reconciliation Day. Following an exceptionally busy summer season with back-to-back shows across the country, eMtee had an ambitious schedule on December 16, performing at five venues – a testament to his dedication to connecting with fans."

Despite the explanation, the videos circulating online painted a concerning picture. Multiple fans shared footage of the rapper appearing to literally doze off on stage, murmuring a few words of his songs before being escorted away.
The incident has understandably left some fans feeling disappointed. The sentiment of one disgruntled fan, "Imagine paying to go see someone perform, only for them to not do anything for the entire performance? I would be disappointed too," reflects the frustration felt by some who attended the Pretoria show. It remains to be seen how Emtee will address the situation moving forward and reassure his fans of his commitment to delivering quality performances.
