Popular South African DJ Warras Shot Dead in Johannesburg

Johannesburg – Popular South African radio and TV presenter, DJ Warras, has been shot dead in Johannesburg Central on Tuesday. Warrick Stock, as he was formally known, was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle.

Police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed the news, stating: "It is alleged that the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before fleeing the scene on foot."

The suspects fled the scene on foot immediately after the shooting. The motive for the shooting remains unknown, and no arrests have been made as the investigation is currently underway.

Superintendent of the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Xolani Fihla also confirmed the shooting. "We can confirm the shooting," Fihla revealed. "JMPD officers were first respondents to the incident… they were stopped by members of the public who alerted them to the shooting."

Warrick Stock was a former 5FM and CliffCentral producer.

"Any finer details will be released by the police, including the identity of the victim," Fihla added.
