Popular South African hip-hop artist, Emtee, took to his Twitter page to ask his close to one million followers to help him with content for his new music.
The hip-hop artist took to his Twitter page on Tuesday, 2 July 2019, to ask his fans to help him come up with subject matters he should tackle as he works on new material for his upcoming project. Since posting the tweet, it has received over 900 likes and close to 200 replies from his fans. The rapper responded to many of the earlier replies, either with an emoji or a worded response.
The most recommended subject matter suggested by fans was that the rapper should continue highlighting the stories, struggles and realities of life in the townships. Many fans suggested that he should tackle issues like unemployment, poverty and how the misconception that a tertiary qualification guarantees the youth work. These suggestions came as a reference to his debut album, Avery, which he released in 2015 and tackled similar subject matters. The album saw Emtee win Best Album Of The Year at the 2016 South African Music Awards.
Other fans suggested that he should continue to provide inspirational and uplifting anthems, a narrative that has been consistent throughout his previously released albums. Many followers of the rapper’s career noted and made reference to songs like Abantu, featuring Snymaan and S’Villa, We Up and Manado, which remain fan-favourites.
New topics were also suggested, like detailing his tumultuous relationship with record label, Ambitiouz Entertainment, homophobia in the hip-hop community, the realities of what happens behind the scenes in the entertainment industry and about his intimate relationships with a particular woman or women. -Justnje
