Limpopo police are appealing for information to help locate a 61-year-old doctor employed at Mokopane Hospital who has been missing since last month.
Dr Rega Mohammed Tavangar was last seen by his partner on the evening of 27 August. Police say he dropped his partner off at her rented room in Mokopane.
According to police, Tavangar was travelling in a white JMC Landwind.
Limpopo police spokesperson Sergeant Maphure Manamela said that during the early hours of 28 August—around midnight—Tavangar’s partner reportedly received a payment from him into her bank account.
“She then contacted him after realising that she had left her wallet in his vehicle,” Manamela said.
Manamela said Tavangar allegedly told his partner that he would send the wallet with her daughter, who was staying with him at the Mokopane Hospital residence. However, no further communication has been received since then.
Police added that attempts to contact Tavangar have been unsuccessful, as his cellphones are reportedly switched off.
The hospital also became concerned about his whereabouts on 3 September after he failed to report for duty. A missing person case has since been opened at Mahwelereng police station.
“Police investigations are continuing to establish Dr Tavangar’s whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance,” Manamela said.
