EMMARENTIA – A man was shot and killed in a suspected road rage incident in Emmarentia on Sunday, while his wife is fighting for her life.
A suspected road rage incident in Emmarentia, Johannesburg, turned fatal on Sunday when shots were fired, leaving a man dead and his wife critically injured. Another person sustained minor injuries during the incident.
According to Gauteng police, the altercation began when two men, driving separate vehicles, became involved in what appeared to be a road rage dispute.
Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the confrontation escalated into a physical fight. During the altercation, the dead man’s wife allegedly retrieved a firearm from their vehicle, prompting the second driver to draw his own weapon.
“This resulted in a shooting which claimed the life of the husband while the other driver sustained minor injuries,” Nevhuhulwi said. The wife was also shot and transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Police have opened a case of murder and attempted murder. Authorities are urging the public, particularly drivers, to follow traffic regulations and be patient to avoid road rage incidents.
