Wiandre Pretorius, who has been implicated in the ongoing Madlanga Commission, survived a suspected attempted assassination at his home on Thursday.
Gauteng police commissioner, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, stated that the "victim" was ambushed upon arriving at his residence in Van Dyk Park, Boksburg.
Mthombeni reported that the individual escaped unharmed after 16 bullets were fired.
Although Mthombeni did not confirm the victim’s identity, two police sources confirmed that the man was indeed Pretorius.
A voice note by Pretorius has been circulating on WhatsApp.
“Guys, number 13 Klapper Street, 13 Klapper Street Van Dyk Park – come and assist me here, 13 Klapper Street Van Dyk Park. They shot my bakkie…I don’t know if it’s a hit or something. I managed to get out.”
More details to follow as the investigation unfolds.
