Tragedy Strikes Gauteng: Eleven Schoolchildren Killed in Crash
Gauteng – A devastating collision between a private scholar transport vehicle and a truck has claimed the lives of eleven schoolchildren and left five others injured. The horrific incident occurred on Monday morning in the southern part of Gauteng province.
Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane confirmed the tragic news while speaking at a back-to-school event in Eldorado Park. According to MEC Chiloane, the scholar transport vehicle was carrying pupils to the Vereeniging/Vanderbijlpark area when the collision occurred.
“The information I have is that the taxi collided with a truck … We lost 11 learners and five are en route to hospital, if they have not arrived yet,” said Chiloane, who was en route to the scene of the accident. “We are rushing there.”
