R150,000 Reward Offered for Alleged Robber Who Escaped After Two Police Officers Killed
Police are offering a substantial reward of R150,000 for information leading to the arrest of Jabulani Moyo, an alleged robber who escaped from custody in a brazen ambush that resulted in the deaths of two police officers.
The tragic incident occurred on 8 August 2025, when Warrant Officer Vuyisile Sintwa and Sergeant Simon Masenya were transporting Moyo back to Boksburg Correctional Services following a court appearance at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court.
According to Hawks spokesperson Constable Thatohatsi Mavimbela, the officers were ambushed shortly after leaving the court. Video footage shows that the police vehicle came to a sudden stop on Main Street in Roodepoort, at which point three men approached the vehicle.

"An argument ensued before the two officers were shot and killed," Mavimbela stated. The officers were then forcibly removed from the vehicle, and the suspects fled the scene in the state vehicle. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned on Onslow Street in Roodepoort.
Moyo has been at large since the incident, and police are now appealing to the public for assistance in locating him and the three men believed to be responsible for the ambush and the officers' deaths.
Mavimbela urged anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of Moyo or the other suspects to come forward. "The SAPS has made an offer of R150,000 to anyone who can share information on the whereabouts of Moyo," she said.
Authorities are treating this case with the utmost seriousness, and they are determined to bring those responsible for the officers' deaths to justice. The reward underscores the importance of apprehending Moyo and his accomplices.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Rabosiwana, on 072 844 4442, or to anonymously call Crime Stop on 086 001 0111. The police are confident that with the public's help, they can bring those responsible for this heinous crime to justice and provide closure to the families of the fallen officers.
