LIMPOPO-born music star Makhadzi has assured her fans that she is recovering well and in good spirits after being involved in a car accident at the end of last year.

The 29-year-old award-winning singer, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, was in a car crash on 31 December 2025 while travelling from Limpopo to Joburg. News of the accident quickly raised concern among her supporters and fellow artists, who turned to social media to wish her a speedy recovery.

On Monday morning, 5 January 2026, Makhadzi released a heartfelt press statement to address her fans directly and clear the air about her condition. In the message, she thanked her supporters for the overwhelming love and care they have shown since the incident.

Addressing her loyal following, she said: “To all my lovely khadzinators, my fans, thank you for the love and support you have been showing me during this difficult time.

"I feel a need to update you about my health at this point because of the love and support you have been showing me, not only in South Africa but all my African followers globally,” she said.

The singer confirmed that she has been discharged from hospital and is now recovering at home, surrounded by her family. She explained that doctors have advised her to take an extended break from performing in order to heal fully.

“I’m now discharged from the hospital so that my family can take care of me until I get back to normal. From the treatment I have been receiving from my doctor, she advised that from all the injuries, I will have to remain at home care for 10 weeks without performing,” she said.

According to her statement, the enforced time away from the stage will be used to focus on her health and follow her doctor’s instructions. While the injuries mean she cannot perform for now, Makhadzi made it clear that her recovery is progressing and that she remains positive about the future.

Despite the setback, Makhadzi remained hopeful and spiritually grounded, saying she believes she will fully recover. She shared that her faith is playing a big role in how she is handling this difficult period.

“I know myself, I am a soldier, and I believe God is still going to do a miracle. I am slowly recovering well, trusting the process. I thank God for protecting my voice. 10 weeks might look like I will be lonely, but I believe God is giving me time to write beautiful melodies of good music,” she said.

Her reference to her voice being protected will be reassuring to fans who feared the accident might affect her ability to perform in the future. For an artist whose career is built on powerful performances and energetic stage presence, she made it clear that this break is temporary rather than the end of the road.

Although she will be away from the stage for at least ten weeks, Makhadzi said she will continue working behind the scenes while focusing on her healing. She intends to use this period to create new material and reflect on her journey.

“I'll be in studio doing what he saved me for, and also not forgetting to thank him for giving me a second chance to breathe. Zwinzhi ridozwiamba ngamurahu (Things will make sense later). I love you khadzinators. See you soon,” she said.

Through her message, the star repeatedly expressed deep gratitude for the messages, prayers, and encouragement pouring in from across South Africa and the rest of the continent. She highlighted how the support from her fans, known as “khadzinators”, has given her strength while she recovers at home.

Her press statement paints a picture of an artist who has gone through a frightening experience but is determined to come back stronger. With ten weeks of home care, family support, and studio time ahead of her, Makhadzi is focusing on healing her body while keeping her creativity alive.

For now, fans will have to wait a little longer to see her perform live again, but her words suggest that when she returns, she hopes to do so with new music and renewed energy.
