ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has secured a High Court gag order against Brown Mogotsi following Mogotsi's public accusations linking Mbalula to the murder of North West businessman Wandile Bozwana and alleging his involvement in a Free State housing scandal.
In a ruling delivered in the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday, Judge Jacobus Strydom found Mogotsi's claims to be false and defamatory. Mogotsi, who made the allegations in interviews with the SABC and Newzroom Afrika, did not appear in court to defend himself.
Mbalula's legal representative, Advocate Phumudzo Managa, informed the court that Mogotsi had been difficult to locate, even on the day of the hearing. Judge Strydom's judgment emphasized the severity of Mogotsi's statements, stating that they portrayed Mbalula as a "murderer, corrupt, lacking integrity, and untrustworthy." The judge further noted the importance of maintaining the integrity of the ANC Secretary-General's office, particularly concerning allegations of corruption.
