Actor Sydney Ramakuwela has made a comeback to the popular soapie Muvhango. This marks his return after a year of leaving the show when his contract was downgraded from a global one to a call contract.
Sources revealed in June 2022 that Sydney departed because he felt disrespected by the production company. He believed they didn't want him anymore, evidenced by the changes made to his character. However, all past issues have been put aside as Sydney has now reprised his role as Mulalo starting from Friday, 5 January.
When contacted for a comment, Sydney expressed his happiness without delving into further details. "I'm happy. Everything is fine, and it's good to be back," he said.
Ndumi Mdletshe, the show's spokeswoman, stated that there were never any issues between Sydney and the production team. She also expressed the production's contentment with his return. "We're unaware of any issues between him and the production team. Therefore, we can't comment on this," she stated.
When asked about the reasons for bringing him back, Ndumi explained that the return of beloved and controversial characters like Matshidiso and Mulalo aims to challenge the status quo and elevate the drama in the new season. She mentioned that chaos always follows when these characters are involved, as they manipulate and betray family and friends while striving for positions of power at MMC. However, an impending surprise threatens to disrupt their plans.
Muvhango is making significant changes for its 25th season, including the return of Buhle Samuels as Matshidiso. Additionally, new characters from the Netshitangane family will be introduced. Mudi Mudau will portray Nkele Dikeledi Netshitangane, a strong Limpopo businesswoman determined to dominate the male-dominated construction industry. Sinete Nemakonde will play Reneilwe "Rene" Netshitangane, Nkele's daughter, while former Skeem Saam actor Aubrey Mmakola will join as Tshililo Netshitangane, a seemingly spoiled and troubled individual.
Renowned singer and actor Tshepo Mosese will also make a comeback to the small screen as the villainous character Manditi, described as a ruthless individual willing to do anything to achieve his goals.
