ALTHOUGH DJ Sbu, real name Sbusiso Leope (41), has had his fair share of heartbreak, the business-minded radio presenter still has his heart open to love but to the right kind of woman, not just anybody.
THAT MISSING PART
Not so long ago, the Mofaya founder, opened up about his love life to Azania Mosaka on SABC3’s Real Talk, saying that he’s in the market and looking for his missing rib. The popular DJ has also been spotted rocking what could be an engagement ring.
The husky-voiced media personality has not lost hope in finding Mrs Right after a few bad turns along the way. On the surface, it may seem that he has everything – an aspiring business, a good career, a track record of hit songs under his belt and even his own online radio station. But all of that doesn’t matter when it comes to love.
During the interview with Azania, the former YFM DJ was asked about his on-and-off love life, and he said, “Ngifuna umfazi (I want a wife). I am looking for a God-fearing woman. Hopefully, God will guide me.”
And that wasn’t the first time the DJ has said that. Rewind back a few years in an interview with Move!, the DJ stated that he was in a good space and looking for someone who fits his ‘status’.
“I’d like to get married and have my own family. Family is important. I am really looking for someone who will walk with me in my journey‚” he said.
HIS BAD OMEN
When it comes to love, it seems his golden touch is not working. All of his previous relationships ended badly with nasty allegations and finger-pointing.
It started in 2005, when his then girlfriend apparently left a suicide note in which she requested that DJ Sbu must not attend her funeral. This had everyone blaming the DJ for her death.
Then a few years later, he found love again in the arms of actress Terry Pheto. In less than a year, they called it quits. Soon after their breakup, rumours surfaced that DJ Sbu’s bad publicity was not good for Terry’s public image as she was a brand ambassador of a well-known product.
Terry was on Anele Mdoda’s Real Talk with Anele where she first cleared the rumours about their break-up. “That is a lie and whatever that happened between my ex and I, happened. He’s a good person, he’s a friend and I have so much respect for him,” she said during the interview.
When DJ Sbu met businesswoman and former fiancée, Disebo Makatsa, his fans were convinced that this was the perfect woman for him. There was a wedding on the cards and they also had a daughter together.
After their split, Disebo went public to clear the air, saying they had an amicable separation. Efforts to reach DJ Sbu for comment were unsuccessful at the time of going to print as his phone rang unanswered.
