JOHANNESBURG – Sultry television actress Ayanda Thabethe has officially tied the knot with minted businessman Peter Matsimbe. The couple exchanged vows last Sunday at the trendy Four Seasons Hotel in Westcliff, north of Johannesburg, in what guests are calling "the mother of all weddings."

The intimate ceremony, attended by close relatives and family friends, saw Thabethe and Matsimbe exchange expensive rings and share a celebratory kiss, accompanied by ululations and heartfelt congratulations. After the exchange of rings, the visibly joyous couple danced to celebratory songs performed by guests and well-wishers.

Matsimbe, a prominent figure in the trucking sector, is known for building his wealth independently, without relying on government tenders. He was reportedly captivated by Thabethe's striking beauty and personality when they first met around 2020 at a popular venue called Jam Alley in Bryanston, northern Johannesburg.

According to sources, the two exchanged numbers and began dating, their friendship eventually blossoming into a romantic relationship that led to their engagement. The couple are now blessed with two children.

The wedding itself was a lavish affair, with guests treated to a multi-course, sumptuous meal and an abundance of expensive drinks, including Veuve Clicquot and Moët & Chandon champagne. "Food was galore, alcohol flowed like the River Nile. There were no plonks; everything was classy," said one anonymous guest.

Another guest, also speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed their happiness for the couple, particularly praising Thabethe's radiant appearance on her wedding day. "She looked stunning and elegant in a white wedding ensemble. She looked like a goddess. Also, Peter was dressed to the nines in black and white," the guest said. "We wish them good luck. Peter married a beautiful and brainy woman in Ayanda."

Another attendee echoed these sentiments, saying, "May the good Lord be with them and continue to bless them abundantly."

The wedding followed Matsimbe's formal introduction to Thabethe's family a few years ago, during which he observed all the necessary cultural and traditional protocols before asking for her hand in marriage, according to sources.

One insider revealed that Matsimbe was "lovestruck" by Thabethe from the moment they met at Jam Alley. Their initial friendship, forged through several dates, eventually evolved into a deeper connection.

Attempts to reach Ayanda Thabethe for comment were unsuccessful, as she did not respond to phone calls or text messages. However, the outpouring of well-wishes and positive sentiments from those who attended the wedding suggests that the couple are embarking on a joyous new chapter in their lives.

On her Instagram page, the 39-year-old blushing bride shared a mesmerising compilation of moments from their special day, held on 29 June.

Ayanda graced the day in a sophisticated and alluring white sleeveless gown adorned with a sweetheart neckline and daring high slits. Her husband wore a timeless black-and-white fitted suit.

The event’s décor, put together by Precious Thamaga-Mazibuko’s Precious Celebrations, was a vision of understated elegance. Its all-white theme blended simplicity and romance, perfectly framing the intimacy of the occasion.

She captioned the post with a heartfelt message, “In front of God and surrounded by love, we signed a promise that began long before pen met paper. Our signing ceremony—The beginning of our forever as a family.”

She concluded her caption with a short Bible verse from the Song of Solomon.

The couple were inundated with well-wishes and congratulatory messages from friends and fans who flooded the comment section.

Reality TV star Mpumi Mops wrote, “Absolutely stunning, congratulations and God bless.” While TV presenter Moshe Ndiki said, “Congratulations, baby, this is so beautiful.”

Ayanda and Peter started dating in May 2021 and got engaged in December 2024 during a romantic rose-petal affair.

Heading online at the time, she announced the news in a post that read, “You are the perfect sunset where my quest for love has found its ending and the spectacular sunrise where my most meaningful adventure begins. Thank you for the greatest gift of all: your heart and our sons,” she gushed.

Subtly addressing rumours about whether Peter was married when they first met, she added, “I am deeply honoured to be your first and only wife, the one chosen to share this lifetime of love with you.” This came after initially denying their relationship.
