Now that the assault case between them has been settled, Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha want to move forward
Babes and Mampintsha’s turbulent relationship has hogged headlines ever since a video of him slapping the gqom star went viral a few months ago.
On Friday, the National Prosecuting Authority in KZN confirmed that the charges against Mampintsha had been withdrawn.
The NPA apparently chose to withdraw the charges after they both successfully attended all mediation sessions with Families South Africa.
Mampintsha and Babes issued a joint statement on social media over the weekend, in which they confirmed the news and apologised to the nation.
“The two parties mentioned above wish to extend their apologies to the nation for all that has happened, they’re aware that the incident has divided the country and wish to humbly apologise for the pain and negative energy that may have arisen as a result of this case,” read part of the statement.
The statement went on to add that Mampintsha regrets his actions
“Mampintsha remains remorseful and is committed to working with authorities and any institution that deals with abuse through his ‘Fix It Fix Him’ organisation that deals with teaching young men about abuse and helping them assess themselves.”
During their first interview together on Ukhozi FM a few weeks ago, Mampintsha advised men to treat women with value.
“We are grateful for the understanding and I just wanna say to them, without saying too much, let us watch our behaviours and treat these women like the valuable people they are,” he said at the time.
