A farmer was shot dead while another was seriously injured after they were shot by unknown men whilst at a tuckshop on R103 Road outside Ladysmith on Wednesday night.

According to the KwaZulu-Natal police, the incident took place at 11.30 pm and Ladysmith police were called and alerted to the shooting.

KZN provincial police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said when police arrived at the scene, they were shown a body of a 38-year-old man, Sibusiso Gama, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Ngcobo said the other man, Gerry Khumalo (57) was rushed to the hospital for medical attention. She said cases of murder and attempted murder are being investigated by Ladysmith police.
