Two suspects aged 29 and 31 will appear in court today on murder and intimidation charges after locals discovered body parts at a Mamelodi informal settlement.
A woman woke up to find a box with human fingers, ears, a hand and a letter intimidating her on Wednesday.
The box had been placed on her doorsteps at the Pienaarspoort informal settlement in Mamelodi East.
Police spokesperson Const Yeroboam Mbatsana said the suspects were arrested on Friday night and will face charges of murder and intimidation.
One of the suspects is also facing rape charges in a separate case laid by the woman in whose yard the body parts were found, Mbatsana said.
“The suspect will appear in court [today] in the Pretoria North magistrate’s court,” Mbatsana said.
Sowetan spoke to the woman who cannot be identified as she’s a victim of a sexual assault.
She said a man had been stalking her until she agreed to set up a meeting with him in which community members ambushed him on Friday and he allegedly confessed about sending the body parts to her.
Mbatsana said police had already identified the deceased person whose body parts were used to intimidate the woman but were yet to notify his next of kin.
