South African doctor has placed the importance of people's health above money and has since become a local hero on social media.

Dr Paulo de Valdoleiros, or most popularly known as the Walk-in Doctor, opened a practice where patients pay what they can afford. De Valdoleiros, who graduated at the age of 51, said he sees patients and examines them if necessary. Then he gives them basic medications, which has been on the market for decades so it relatively cheap, and the patient goes to the front desk, deciding on his, or her, own fee. "I feel that just because you don’t have money shouldn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to see a doctor,” he said in a telephonic interview with Gateway News.

Good Things Guy reported patients do not have to make a booking to see the Walk-In doctor, adding they work on a first come, first served basis. He enrolled in medical school at the age of 46 and graduated at 51. De Valdoleiros said he did not want to chase money, he wanted to do what he loves, which is helping people.
